Default Banana removal So Cal

Folks:
I need your help. I have a banana tree - I was told Ice Cream. The tree is way to big for where I planted it - in a planter. So I have to take it out. It has produced fruit twice. It has pups now. so I have two questions:
1. anyone local want pups? before I throw em out?
2. How do I best remove it? it's in a planter surrounded by a concrete patio. I need to cut it down - know how to do that. but I need to kill it before it messes up the patio. How do I do that? I am thinking of digging as much mat out as possible and loading up a bag of charcoal and cooking the rest. Will that work?

I plan to re-layout the yard so I can have a banana tree but not this summer.

It's in Long Beach CA. if you're local you can have as many pups as you want. The tree has fruit now that it nurtured thru the winter so I'm going to wait a couple of weeks to kill it all. your suggestions are appreciated.
