Been an eventful year so far. Mom died in January, been emptying the house of 50 years accumulation of memories. I couldn't afford to buy out m brothers and sister's shares, so had to move. After a lot of looking, I decided to move in to Leisure World in Maryland. I wanted to buy outright something I could afford (no mortgage!). As I'm living by myself, I bought a nice large 1 bedroom co-op. Paid cash, whoopee! Monthly fee isn't exorbitant, and includes all utilities, even basic cable. Since I don't have a car, the shuttle bus is helpful. But I miss my gardens, my pond and my koi. I'm in a 3rd floor unit with a large enclosed balcony, so I moved over some plumeria, hibiscus, all my orchids, some smaller palms, an elephant ear (alocasia gagnea), and 2 small naners- Truly Tiny and a DC in pots. A bunch of lifestyle changes. But its a place I like, and my son Shawn, who's getting married in May in Montauk, can come visit as often as they desire. I just move to the couch in the LR and they get the queen size bed. Isn't that what Dad's do?

"If by a liberal, they mean someone who looks ahead and not behind; someone who welcomes new ideas without rigid reactions; someone who cares about the welfare of the people, their health, their housing, their schools, their jobs, their civil rights, their civil liberties; someone who believes we can break through the stalemate and suspicion that grips us; that is what they meant by a liberal, I am proud to be a liberal."
