unless your heart is set, i recommend you check out the wiki before deciding on what type of banana you want to grow. you will only need one and typically fertilize once every 1-2 months (depending on how much you apply). a forum member by richard offers a specific fertilizers that bananas love. i can tell you first hand that his stuff is worth every penny and can be applied to virtually any fruit tree/plant you have growing.
