Default Worried about bananas coming through winter

I was about to give up on my bananas that was overwintered in the ground under three feet of woodchips in Waterford Michigan! After 10 years of them coming back thought I could count on them to return! It was getting late May and saw no evidence of any new growth! One week ago they surprised me when three pups appeared telling me everything was OK! Thank goodness! For I was worried!
