Default Re: The Pineapple Diaries

I am so jealous of you guys down south! Sorry I haven't posted in awhile, so I know that you all hate me now, but I am back and better than ever! I have tried a few more times, but I am hoping I finally have a winner! When I go searching for pineapples, I look more at the plant potential in the leaves than the fruit itself! I really care that much! I can't help but feel that I am overdoing it and waiting too long to plant the top. After even a day, the leaves start to turn brown. This one I currently need to cut up seems to be doing okay. In any case, I am planting it tonight. I am changing the process by simply twisting the top off and planting it, as per a youtube video I saw, instead of going head over heels attempting to twist it off and trim it like crazy, probably often hurting it. I am putting it in standard miracle-gro potting mix and using a spray bottle, as well as praying that this plant may grow!
On a side note, my plant collection has grown! I now have a banana tree, black pepper plant, and tea plant (camellia sinensis)! Hopefully, a pineapple plant will soon be added. I am way too motivated because of the book that I love: How to Grow Tasty Tropical Plants in Any Home Any Where. In any case, I will probably make individual threads on those plants soon. I am also still hunting down the always elusive sugarcane plant! My collection is continuing to expand!
I also want to thank the many people who have contributed to this thread thus far. It is you guys who made this thread popular! As I write this, 4 guests are reading it! I cannot thank you all enough!

Sincerely,
Kbud
