Hi everyone,
I just wanted to share my best working fertilizer set up so far. Like several other members here, I've been trying to find the best set of supplements for container grown bananas. Another goal was to make sure that the supplements were easy to find. Here's what has worked best for me so far:
*
Miracle Grow water soluble Mix 24-8-16
2 tablespoons per watering can (about 2 gallon capacity) once a week (no more than one watering can per plant depending on pot size)
*
Sul-Po-Mag (K-Mag)
1 teaspoon per 3 gallons once a month
*
Azomite
The bag recommends one heaping tablespoon per gallon, but I applied a 1/3 that rate once a year.
The Sul-Po-Mag and Azomite are new additions, so it will be interesting to to see how the plants continue to grow. However, I can already see a notable difference in plant health since adding the two. Many thanks to the members on here who helped me with application rates and best fertilizers to use. I'm still working on the best rates and/or new additions, so any suggestions are definitely welcome. There seems to be a lot of uncertainty with the Azomite and whether it is really useful. Some of the experiments that are supposed to support it as featured on its website, are just not good science

but it appears overall to provide
some benefit to the plant as other members here have also found, but I'm continuing to look at this as an experiment. Right now, only a few of my plants have it added. One of these days, I would like to do an experiment with seedlings to see if it has any impact on plant growth and development. Anyway, that's all I've got so far--hope this helps!
