Umm, actually, the petioles weren't closed. I think it may have been the andle. Also, what is a "glacous bloom"?
Also, do ABB bananas have red coloring on the petioles? i assumed that that would be a trait of AAA.

Does basjoo have red petioles?

if the banana is ABB, what common variety would it be? it can certainly be nothing rare. I bought it at my grocery after all, and this is LI. not really tropical paradise.

I really hope it's edible...
