Default Re: Canda Hardy Bananas?

You can forget about fruit, unless you have a heated greenhouse. That has only an outside
chance in a few spots in coastal BC. HZ 3 suggests, that you live ‘up high’, either in the
mountains, or up north. In the mountains you may get by with natural light indoors if you
live below the 47^ latitude.
If you live up north., I doubt very much, that natural light would keep your plant going
through the short winter daylight hours and the frost free period is much too short to let
the plant recover from the winter degeneration.

The most cold hardy banana by consensus appears to be the Musa Basjoo rated to have a
corm hardy to HZ5. But don’t count on it, unless you do some heavy duty mulching.

Sorry,
Olaf
