Default Yellowing Musas Basjoo leaves

Can anyone please tell me what could be causing these funky yellow deformed leaves on my newly uncovered musas. It is occurring in both the front yard and the back yard.

I have considered the following:

* It has been a chilly April for us here in NJ 50s and 60s during the day and 40's and even a few high 30s at night

* Possibly i fertilized too early (Did not use a high nitrogen fertilizer either), and burned them??

* Not enough nitrogen in the soil??

Any info and tips would help! thanks all!

Michael
