That might be where I read it then.
I went ahead and just cut it down to dirt level and found a couple more of the things. The batteries died in the camera after just two pictures and the one attached was the best one.
It was a cut from about 2" up or so and as you can see its got some dead in the middle.
For a bit of a size reference if you notice the white thing in the lower right of the picture that's a single dog fur / hair that somehow made its way there. Or the cut bit was probably about 1" in diameter.
I also went ahead and took and exacto knife and kinda cut away / scraped out the rest of the mushy bits from the corm then rinsed it out. I mainly did this to try and remove any of these little guys that where still in it. I don't really care at this point if the mother some how comes back or not as there are some pups that I could probably cut off now and they would be fine as well as just to know these little guys are gone.
