I'd love to be in your zone--we're in zone 5. We plant ours here and they come back, we just plant them a foot deeper than they normally grow. You wouldn't have to do that there.
Put it outdoors in a shady place for at least a week or two before planting outside if it's been growing in the house, or all the leaves on it will sunburn real bad.
