Default Re: Bhopal - the forgotten disaster

A word to the wise is to closely look around your own neighborhood and you may be shocked at potential disasters that under a worst case scenario could kill people.
The worst local one in my area that I know of is the cyclohexane tower of our nylon plant which could blow up. Fortunately I am well way from what on the maps are called donuts of death for the blast of that. But I would be in some danger depending on conditions if the ammonia storage tanks at the old air products plant rupture. If you live near a rail line pay attention to what travels by and if hazardous materials are transported make sure you have a plan in place to deal with a release from a derailment. Many years ago a resident was killed by a release from a derailed tank car in my area.
