What caused it? Geeze I don’t know I wasn’t there

But I do have an idea or two. It could be a bloom affect . Meaning when the bloom was pollinated it was shaken to hard or hit just right by a rain drop at just the right time causing one abnormal fruit to develop .
Or simply A mutation due to lack of some type of mineral needed to give the fruit what we see as a normal appearance . But when I was a kid I would be in grove with my DAD and we saw from time to time “ funny fruits ” . also it seemed like every one was always grafting to try to get the newest and best fruit. I know he would have jumped right out of the truck and air layered that branch in a split second . HE would have stood there and grinned for a few seconds …Then there were other growers who would pick and destroy that fruit in a heartbeat because it was malformed ..
Before I keep rambling on . I want to say I have seen plenty of “funny fruits” in our grove during the time I spent there.. Limes seem to have a bunch more than other trees
And I think everyone should try honey produced from orange blossoms . just once!
