Default Ensete Ventricosum bloom in s.e. Pa.

I ordered an ensete v. from Northeran tropics it arrived in April,2011 and i planted it in the ground in early May. Near the end of July or early Aug. i saw a flag leaf and then a bloom. From what i have read it takes 4to8 years for a bloom,Sandy from N.T.'s said it was about one year old when she sent it to me in April 2011. Is there any chance that i could get viable seeds or do i need another plant blooming at same time, like you do with Musa? I live in zone 6 so the first frost can come in mid Oct. I know the plant will die after it blooms, is there any chance i could cut it off just above ground level, dig out the meri stem like i have read can be done with ensete maurelli, and hope for pups. I know i would have to dig it up and bring it inside. Should i let it go dormant in the garage, 37 deg. or keep in heater room at 78 deg.? Any help you can give me would be great. Thanks in advance. Stan
