Re: Dwarf Orinoco or Drarf Brazillian ?
Dwarf Orinoco is smaller (5-6ft) and hardier, but produces an inferior fruit to Dwarf Brazillian in my opinion. Orinoco can be eaten raw when fully ripe, but they also lend themselves nicely as a cooking banana because they are starchier, and less sweet even when fully ripe (when I tried them). Dwarf Brazillian is less cold hardy (but some people have successfully grown them both in the same type of colder climates), taller (I've seen generally 7-8ft) and produces a very pleasant sweet dessert banana. They would both do fine in zone 9 I would think, and definetly anything higher.
