Default Re: Does anyone know how to kill the banana moth (Opogona sacchari)

I don't think we have that in Massachusetts. I would have a bug zapper to attract the moths and zap them at night for the first defense. Do they lay eggs on the surface or do they bore into the plant? I use dormancy or all season oil up here to smother the eggs of insects on my apple and pear trees. I know people put tar paper or plastic around the stem of a sqaush or vine so when the vine borer moth lays eggs on it they just dry up and die.. Maybe you can wrap the truck with something that breaths, Maybe even an old bed sheet or fine screen to prevent the moth from laying its eggs on the plant? Just some thoughts. Plastic wrap would probably heat up the truck and definitely not breath. Even those sticky fly traps hanging near the plants for yet another defense.
