Have you tried asking the locals and street/farmer's market fruit sellers maybe? They should know and if they are looking for a little economic boost,they may even get the plants for you
There are also backyard growers in certain houses of Rio(not the most accessible place though unfortunately) which may be growing Dwarf Brazilian or the other plants for home use.
