Default Basjoo cut down to ground level :(

Hi. My basjoo has been cut right down to ground level after experiencing round one of the arctic cold snap, which has seen -10c in my area but on higher ground has seen 17c-19c. This winter is turning out to be a bad one. I did protect my basjoo's with straw and fleece but it proved to be useless against temps like that, The ice had split the p-stem right the way through. Hopefully it will sprout from the root stock in the spring. WE WILL SEE!
