Default Re: Why all the "welcome to the forum" posts?

Hi Tommy, I can explain:
We setup that system linked in the earlier post here where members can more easily welcome new members.
That utility to easily welcome new members was built to check a forum area where threads were mixed: welcome threads, commingled with social announcement type threads. So members were "welcoming" members who were not new, if they had a thread in that forum. Today, I made another change, I added a new forum for only Social Announcements and Good Wishes. I moved many threads that were in the old combined area to the new area. The new area does not have the "Welcome" system (just like most areas of the forum don't have that). So if your thread was moved, it would have lost the list of who said "Welcome", as it was nullified when the thread was moved.
So that will explain why if you got a notice from yesterday for example but today there are no "Welcomes" listed. Check the location of the thread now and it will probably be that new area. You would have also likely gotten a "thread moved" notice in your PM box.
I made this change for that very reason of threads getting "welcomes" when it wasn't appropriate, so moving forward, things will get back to normal and you wont get notices about your thread getting "welcomes" if it isn't eligible anymore.
If something is still strange beyond that, please let me know either here or over PM so I can investigate the exact case.
