Hey canadianplant! Thanks for posting your progress. Where did you get your plants? I wanted to order from Canada Bamboo World in Chilliwack, but the shipping is a killer, and I wasn't ready to spend that much. Maybe next year. I hope someone locally will order them in so I can get one cheaper here. There's very little chance it will survive outside, but it is the most cold hardy that I know of, so if I was going to try any banana outside, that would be it.
I also overwintered a Fargesia rufa. It had some dieback, but it is doing really well now. I'm hoping to eventually get it to mature height of 6-8feet, like the label says!
