Bob -- Had one of those lubbers land on my ankle while fighting a 2 foot snook on my 9 wt fly rod. Held onto the rod while stomping repeatedly to disloge the thing. Could feel the claws dig in thru the crew sock. The other guys fishing the C24 spillway got a good laugh at my dancing and yelling.

Full sized adult with more different colors than I ever saw on an insect. He was 3 to 4 inches long and scared the hell out of me. Thought it might bite, so I plucked him off and continued to play the fish. Forgot to strip set the hook and lost the snook up close.

This happened soon after moving to S Fla. After finding black racers in the pool area every week, bobcats walking the streets at night, corn snakes wrapped up in the banana flowers and then this thing...... Man! I was really freaking out cause the Fla critters were beginning to get to me.
