Artesian wells are drilled into a vein of water that is under enough pressure that it will come to the surface without using a pump. A spring is just about the same principle, except that the Artesian well is drilled and the spring occurs naturally. The words Artesian and spring refer to the way the water comes out of the ground, (without a pump) not the quality of the water. I suppose there can be good quality spring water in some areas, and poor quality in others. When the water is tested, it's for pH, and things like metals and minerals, etc. (calcium, iron, salt, etc.,etc.) I doubt you'll find chlorine in an Artesian well, unless it was drilled into a city water pipe.

Algae are little tiny plants, so if you water with algae water it's, basically, the same as watering with compost tea, only the plants are tiny rather than the leaves and weeds put in regular compost.
