Default How did your Ae Ae get past the cold weather that we had 3 weeks ago?

I was looking for at least 12 mature plants this coming sumer, that is before the cold weather. It was the longest cold spell that I have ever seen. And one night we had a rain that gave us water as cold as 40f. At the end of the cold spell most of my plants all looked normal and almost without any damage. On the second warm day the damage started to show up. It just seems to be getting worse.

The white areas turned brown early and the the green started to go. These pictures show the new growth on Jan 24 10.
In the past my Ae Ae bananas have gone through 32f and lost all of their leaves. It took a month for growth again. This time only one night got done to 34f.
I had an orchid growing on a tree in the garden for 35 years and it died last week. Its not been a good time for me.
