I got your PM and tried to respond, but you need to go into your profile so that you can receive PM's. At any rate, below is my response to your question about the bananas in your yard. This was the only way I knew to get back in touch with you.

Hey, Red...welcome to the org. Any chance you took any photos of the plants or the fruit? Most likely they are 'Orinoco's, though they could be something different. Your description of the fruit, particularly the part about some of them being bigger than the typical grocery store variety, makes me question if those were 'Orinoco' or not. Most Orinoco fruit in this area isn't over 6" long. Orinoco does have the distinction of being pretty angular, but then so do some other cultivars when they aren't fully mature. If the others were larger and shaped differently, those could well have been something else. Perhaps 'Ice Cream' but that would just be a guess on my part without some photos.
