Ante, Most of the coast lines here have a large population and many like to fish. That's good until too many fish are taken and the species starts to decline. I can remember when it was no limit and I have taken many times a large amount. Try to keep your area clean and watch out for over fishing so you can enjoy for a long time. It may come to be that your area will have restrictions also. Have a very good day.

Yes, we will have same restrictions same day we enter European Union and according the news that will be July 2013, untill that you are all free to fish here
On the other side US household income are about 50 000$ and here I can get that to some 17 000-18 000$ and as U can see we have more or less same market prices as you. Its an Art of living here

Location location location.If you came here you could not afford a location like you have at 4 times our household income.

Just noticed that the Halibuts I caught were right and left. I think lefties are unusual. Tony?

Although a member of the left-eyed flounder family, about 40 percent of California halibut have their eyes on the right side. The color is dark brown to black on ....In that water were lucky they don't have 3 eyes

Sunday morning I'm taking my new 12' Okuma surf rod for a spin. Pun intended! I'm going to soak some mackerel and squid and see if I can get a bigger Leo in a spot that produces them in good numbers.

Spinning or conventional ? I have a 15' uglystick surf rod w/penn 750 reel

Cool.If you can learn to cast say a penn jig master conventional reel,I think you will find they will cast further than a spinning reel,have better drag systems and hold more line .I never learned how so I use spinning reels

I use a conventional for deep sea, but I have never been able to cast it very well. I recently watched a few videos on baitcasting and I think I could figure it out with a newer low profile type baitcaster. Mine is an old Diawa Sealine 50H like this one..

It would be hard with that old timer.All it takes is practice.I can cast the smaller ones.The records for distance are held by people using conventional reels.With conventional reels there is no line twist and they just do a much better job.The drags are much more smooth.Since you are really getting into this you may want to try one out someday I think you'll be happy you did.
