BUMP:ha:
This is my Red Lady Papaya and Im wondering if anybody can help me with over wintering suggestions? How will it take if I digg it out and prepare for cold storage? Whan to do that? To keep it in dark/light space???? Any help? ![]() ![]() Picture is a week old now and its double wider now with leaves about 40cm in diameter. :woohoonaner: |
Re: Red Lady Papaya-Fruiting
Seems to me you would be better off potting it now so it has time to recover while you still have good weather. Grow it as a house plant if you have the room.

Re: Red Lady Papaya-Fruiting
Its amazing how fast it growes! Unfortunally I ll have to leave it inground and will try to protect it somehow. In a mean time is there any good source for Dwarf Papaya seed? Have to prepare few seedlings for the next Spring if I loose this one.

Re: Red Lady Papaya-Fruiting
they don't do well if they are re transplanted. You can try and grow them in a big pot.

Re: Red Lady Papaya-Fruiting
I will almost definitive try to find seed/seedlings of this variety, it has beautiful stem colour.

Re: Red Lady Papaya-Fruiting
I had one in a large pot. As with most plants overwintered inside, it was very prone to spider mites. It did well for 2 years but never fruited for me. Good luck, Ante.
