Great pictures! Very beautiful. I guess I really didn't know what pineapple plants even looked like...I was imagining more of a palm tree but that's for coconuts. I'm sure you'll be enjoying some fresh pineapple shortly!

Very nice, and the plants are looking nice and healthy too! Mine seem to get burned in the sun. How do you tend to yours, food water light etc?

Congrats! Gives me hope. I just started one from the supermarket this weekend. I'm letting the top dry down in a sunny window. I had a beauty a few years ago the fruit was as big and tasted better than Dole! ha, ha.

I've got one just starting to take off growthwise I chopped off from the top of a pineapple I got at the store. I need to move it to a larger planter sometime soon.

I'd love to see pics of the interior of the pineapples when you slice each type open. MMMM!

PH- 5.5-6.0, full sun, water with soluable ferts. every 3 to 4 wks(miracle grow) poured over the plant, beds were prepared with generous additions of organic ferts. and mulch. All the pineapples get the same treatment, but the Pernambuco's seem to be extremely vigorous. I have begun to prepare more beds for future plantings of other varieties. Hopefuly I'll find more that are just as vigorous, but that seems unlikely. Nothing else has come close !

Better late than to have never taste for yourself. When it fruits, pick it as soon as it smells fragrant and you will be rewarded with a treat unlike any you have ever bought in a store!!! The flavor is what makes it worth the 18-24 month wait. :lurk:

Looks like you have got the right medium and proper size pot to remain until maturity. Be on the look out for pups just prior to picking your fruit. If the weather is cold, the pups may come after you pick the fruit so dont through away the parent even if it looks like its dying. Let the pups grow as high as they like until they begin to open their leaves wide. They should be about 1/2-2/3 the size of the parent plant, and will then have enough roots to separate.

Good luck and congrats!
