Pindo Palms, I want a fruit bearing one

I have a hankering for a pindo palm. My objective is to harvest fruit from it.

Question: are there any varieties of Pindo that yield better fruit than other varieties. Location is zone 8b NWFL.
I am looking for a pindo and at the same time get a real ice cream banana.

From what I am reading all Pindo Palms give fruit . From my experience it may take a few years to get fruit. Last year mine put out two fruiting spikes but none of the fruit got large enough to ripen. I have sandy soil and live in zone 10b. I do fertilize with Palm tree food.

Where in NW FL are you? Im in Ft Walton. I have blue Java, but currently all pups are spoken for. May be able to get you one soon though. Good luck on the Pindo.

I was wondering if anyone knows of superior selections for fruiting. Thanks very much for the information.

Im familiar with Pace.. not far from me.. Akula lives in Pcola and grows blue java as well. I dont click on the "find my location" because it seems to take forever to load for some reason.

The traffic should be a little better now that the bridge is almost fixed. I would take 87 to get down your way.
Probably will not have enough land cleared for new plantings until late fall or next spring anyway.

Talking about Pindos, look for Butia odorata varieties for best fruit. Other sp. fruit is not so good as Odorata.
