Sitting on my back porch right now. Teeny one in front, Victoria. On far right, Royal Hawaiian. Next from right, MD2. The rest are smooth cayennes:

My mouth is watering. You're in Tennessee???!!!!??? How long did it take you to have pineapples? Did they produce fruit on their own or did you have to baby them and give them lots of fertilizer? How did they do indoors for you or do you have a greenhouse?

Paula I just snatch off the top growth, remove alot of the lower leaves, and let it harden off for 2 days. You'll see all the little roots.
And then just plant. ![]() This other pineapple I didnt even harden it off! I just stuck it in the ground back in June. Hey Nate.....to the left of the pineapple is the pretty lil' plant you sent me. Its growing swell!! ![]() Sorry for big pictures, don't know how to make them smaller!

Hi Paula, mine took about 3 years to finally produce a pineapple. I'm sure it might be different for different varieties. The one I have with a pineapple right now is just a dole or del monte from the grocery store.

Nice pineapples. Where did you get the Spanish Red? I would love to grow that one.

For those of you wanting to start baby pineapples, they need constant temps around 75-80 to get started (in your house is best if you live in a colder area) and then transfer them outside when they get established. And they hate cold!
Pineapple Zones: 9 - 11 (Suffers damage at 32°, Freezes at 28° F) So if you're below zone 9, I wouldn't even put it outside, but in a greenhouse as it will take up to a couple years to get a pineapple. Even in Zone 9b/10a, it will need to be covered at 32F.
