I have some new sprouts coming up:

Already my "all lettuce" AG has lettuce coming up:

This is one I started not long ago in another AG:

Dwarf Pomegranate "Nana":

This is "Wonderful" Pomegranate that was started a few weeks ago. I think this is a beautiful little plant with great color! Sherry do I need to give this a haircut? If so when and how much? I really hate to cut off that pretty new growth.

Cantaloupe doing well:

Personal watermelon:

Strawberry "Patio Temptations" growing VERY slowly!

Blue Spruce - not sure what that leafy looking brown spread out thing is?

Swiss Chard

Hiya Re: My Aero~Garden...

You don't HAVE to prune Janan, but if you want a much more dense and full plant, it can benefit greatly.

My "Blue Spruce" seeds never did come up in soil...even with a freezer treatment! Gonna keep trying though.

Everything looks great, Janan. Is that "personal" watermelon a smaller variety?

Yes, Sherry! They are those little round ones they sell at Whole Foods and stuff. They have minimal seeds in them also. I'm sorry I know you asked me that question somewhere, and I forgot to answer (though I answered you in my head ). They are larger fruit than a cantaloupe, maybe about the size of a Honeydew.

Do you think that blue spuce is sprouting with that brown thing coming out of it? I don't remember the other one looking like that.

Maybe. I guess time will tell if it is germinating.

Ok so do you know how big the watermelons will be? You may have to hand-pollinate with a soft paintbrush.

I'm gonna grow a unit full of petunias, Janan. The double ones of course.

Also too, last night I noticed a new sprout in one of the pods but I don't know what it is! I just hope it's not an herb. Guess I'll soon find out.

Looking good Janan. Love how red that fan palm seed is!

I'm doing an experiment. I'm going to see if I can grow gloxinias in my aerogarden. They form tubers so I may have to transplant them eventually but all of my sprouts that I removed are now well rooted and seem to be doing good so far. I'll keep everyone updated. I also started a few african violet leaves in my aerogarden

Janan- do you still have that(those) papaya start(s) growing in your AG? I potted mine up, and put them near a window but i think the cold got them, and then died off. was a fun experiment while they lasted, atleast i know i can easily sprout some more.

HBL - do you have some recommended stops on taking an AG plant and potting it up in soil? I have just one lemon basil left in my AG but it's huge and i'd like to pot it up, so i can have all starts at the same age in there.

Thanks!

Ok Luke, when you want a plant to successfully make the shift from aero-garden to pot, you gotta keep it covered or partially covered, until the roots grab and are able to uptake their own moisture. If you can't cover it be sure to mist or wet the leaves a few times a day. If you've got a bottle of Wilt-Pruf though...forget everything you just read!

If it's an herb, I would suggest snipping it before you make the transplant and cutting a third of the growth. This will make the shift much easier. I use a mist bottle when I'm rooting cuttings or transplanting plants, so you may find this useful also.

It usually takes a couple weeks so be patient...and good luck!
