Lowes has them for $20.

The taste varies widely in red-fleshed varieties. Which cultivar are they?

Hylocereus undatus. At least that's what it shows on the tag. I've learned to not trust their tags too much.

Yeah really! H. undatus is a white-fleshed species!

Haha, that is so funny. Don't they have a "master gardener" to oversee what is put on the plant labels? Oh well, at least their stuffs are readily available.

The real problem is the distributor that provides Lowe's with plant stock, and the labels on the plants.

I have tried some awful tasting red-fleshed pitaya. If I was buying a dragon fruit plant, I'd want to have a named cultivar. For example: Hylocereus undatus "Paul Thomson" is a great tasting white-fleshed fruit. Hylocereus guatemalensis "American Beauty" is a great tasting red-fleshed fruit ... etc.
