MENTHA BERRIES & CREAM - a compact variety with dark green textured foliage and lavender flowers during summer. It is sweet and fruity, great for summer drinks, use leaves chopped or as a garnish. Likes sun. :08::08::08:

Re: Herbs

I'm getting some of that Banana Mint soon too. I guess it smells like total ripe bananas.

I read about another kind called "sweet pears" and apparently it smells like real pears! How cool is that?!

Now if only they'd invent "Strawberry Mint"!!! :goteam:

Re: Herbs

I was noticing how red the stems are on some of my Bay trees...

Check out how big & beautiful the leaves are...

Can't wait to harvest some leaves. :D

A brand new red branch came up over the last few weeks from the base of one of my Bay Laurel trees. Here it is today...

Re: Herbs

Here's a pot of Basil sitting out front of our favorite Mexican restaurant, that larger leaf may be a pepper too - not sure (sorry about the quality - cell phone shot):

A couple of my chocolate mint are flowering. I hope I can collect seed for it! :)

Re: Herbs

I read that chocolate mint doesn't come true from seed because it's a hybrid, and that cuttings are the only way to propagate it. I was hoping the seeds would be true though, but I'm told they're not. :(

Great shots though, JaNan. ;)

Re: Herbs

I've been enjoying many herbs this season...especially different basils.

This "Orange Mint" is really growing on me though (no pun intended :ha:). It's even taking on an orange/bronze hue...

Before I knew how the smell was described I wasn't sure if I liked it...but now I can't get enough of it! It smells like Earl grey tea and orange bergamot. I really love it and I've been creating new plants from cuttings.

Re: Herbs

Isn't this pretty? My purple basil is flowering......

Re: Herbs

You do realize though JaNan, that if you leave those flowers on your plant, it will soon die?!

Basil is an annual and allowing it to flower signals it to die. If you want it to keep growing...cut off the flowers.

They sure are pretty though. :)
