Dragon fruit planting, did I commit the ultimate, most embarrassing act?
 

I planted a Physical Grafitti and a Yellow side by side a month ago. The one on the left in this photo is Physical Grafitti, you can see it has sprouted 2 new branches. The Yellow on the right has remained the same since. So, did I plant it upside down??? :o

I looked at my yellow and I can't see anyway to tell without having the growing point. Not growing a new branch yet doesn't mean it's upside down. You can cut it in half and and plant the cutting the other way around ,that way you have it covered.

I'll just wait a couple more weeks and see. I'm curious if it can sprout while upside down. Maybe I'll try with another white fleshed cutting (got plenty of those).

With a single pod, it is not going to matter.

I agree with Richard. It really won't matter now. It's been so long, that it will definitely correct itself, and it looks like the nodes are expanding now to grow new spathes (right where the nursery tape is). Epi's are opportunist plants, grow aerial roots and will flourish from any part of the plant, so there's no concern at all, and like you mention, it's sort of a novelty to see that.

Because the cutting top has the other section end on it (which is sometimes how I make Epi cuttings), plus the outward curve at the spine growth tips, it looks like it is upside down. Also, the narrowest end by the new section is an indicator, because usually the broadest/thickest half is furthest away from the section break.

Nevertheless, they look healthy!

In my personal experience, the yellow cuttings that I have took a bit longer to sprout than did the few other varieties that I've sprouted. Don't know if thats just me, but they were in very similar setups.
