Coclocasia 'Nancy's Revenge'
I have spoken with several folks, lately, about 'Nancy's Revenge'... Seems like everyone I have talked to has not had any luck with the colocasia. Is there anyone out there that has had some success with this plant... The one's that have not, please let me know what not to do to it... I am thinking about trying to plant one, and would like a little heads up on it...
Many thanks in advance.... |
Re: Coclocasia 'Nancy's Revenge'
Lots of water, lots of sun, plenty of composted chicken or cow manure. That's what works for me,also water the roots, not the leaves to guard against rust.

Re: Coclocasia 'Nancy's Revenge'
Randy,
We used to grow these at the botanical garden I worked at when I lived in St. Louis. They did great outside in the ground in our summers there. We had to overwinter them indoors, of course. I should try one now that I'm in Houston. I'm sure they'd love it here. My problem, just about out of room.:D Good luck! It's a cool plant! |
Re: Coclocasia 'Nancy's Revenge'
Thanks, Bananaman...
I am looking forward to trying these, and I hope they will prove to grow and prosper in my yard... As far as you trying them... There is always room to squeeze just one more plant in, isn't there??? :colorwoot: :colorwoot: :colorwoot: :colorwoot: :colorwoot: :colorwoot: |
Re: Coclocasia 'Nancy's Revenge'
"There's always room for one more plant!" That's long been my motto, but my wife doesn't seem to share my point of view!

Re: Coclocasia 'Nancy's Revenge'
My wife is the same, but I sneak them in when she is not looking... When she does see them, 9 times out of 10, she ends up liking them and wondering how they got there... Birds and other animals are great to blame...

Re: Coclocasia 'Nancy's Revenge'
I just finished blocking off my whole front yard except for a walkway. It's now "officially" ALL GARDEN !! Every time that I just "know" another plant won't fit anywhere I go off and get 5 more that I have to wrack my brains to figure a spot out for. I knew that I was addicted when I planted 6 plants in my neighbors yard when she wasn't home. LOL!

Re: Coclocasia 'Nancy's Revenge'
I tried 'land rustling" a chunk of her yard when she first moved in but her meddling landlord had to tell her the truth. I saw her cutting the grass and told her " Hey,you don't have to cut that part, it's actually part of my yard". It was " Africa" hot and she was only too glad to hear that. Later that afternoon her landlord stopped by and just had to ask her why she left that part uncut !!! Ruined my plans !!

Re: Coclocasia 'Nancy's Revenge'
Randy,
Sounds like we both try the same ploys on our wives1 Sometimes I just bring them in she either never notices because I have so many or if she does see them, she ends up liking them too. She's really into plants too so she doesn't give me too much grief! I'm pretty lucky, actually. |
