I had a whole bunch of velutina seeds that didn't germinate over the winter even with the assistance of a seed heating mat. HOWEVER, the seeds decided to germinate when I threw them into my compost pile. The pstems are about 6 inches high in about a month.
No scarification, no soaking, nothing but heat was all I attempted indoors. It seems neglect and mother nature can do a better job than me! |

I bought 10 seeds and the seller said to expect 50% germination at best.
I let them soak in water for over two weeks (I forgot about them) and 6 have sprouted :-) |
