Re: dark maurelli

I’ve had them a few years now and they seem to be very dark when they first come from the nursery, but then lighten up as they age.

At first I thought it was because they got too much shade in the backyard. But I’ve had one in a pot in full sun in the front and that one has lost its deep red color as well, so I’m not sure what is responsible for keeping them red ???

This is totally a guess but there are several aquarium red and pink plants that need a regular dose of iron to keep their colors. Maybe this falls into the same category?

It seems as my nights are getting cooler and less humid the leaves are turning more red?

Wonder if this is because they are native to highlands?
