Bananas are hungry and thirsty plants and will be unfruitful if left without feed and water.
Even in my area where there are plantations, some people neglect their home grown bananas and they look miserable.

Hi Symantic,

Yes of course itīs possible to produce ripe fruits in Greece! Itīs only important that you plant them in partial shade because of low humidity in summer. Because most of the soil in Greece is rather sandy it whould be useful to chance the soil at the place you plant bananas against a substrate that contains a high percentage of peat or/and bentonite, so that the soil can keep water easier.
Also itīs important to water them regulary at your arid area, or you even install a irrigation system.

Best wishes,
Markus
