Dutch Nutrient Formula...an excellent organic, odorless, & water-soluble fertilizer!
Here's what I am using more and more with excellent results. A two-part blend for the early growth of seedlings & cuttings. Here is part A (2-0-2)...
  Part B (0-1-3)   Both are great in promoting vegetative growth and together they equate to a 2-1-5 formula. My banana plants love it! :08: I also use a two-part blend of a formula for fruiting & blooming. This is the B mixture...  If you're looking for a terrific organic, water-soluble, and odorless fertilizer..DNF is the way to go. :D : ) |

How mutch does is cost? I've never used liquid fert ( :eek: ) but how much would you put on a young plant?

i'll have to check this out..
i use rhizotonic product of canna.. its out of the netherlands.. its 0.6-0.0-0.6 a kelp base liquid root stimulant tonic..and when i transplant nanners..or anything actually..plants have very little shock.. its meant for rooted plants.. thanks for the notice on DNF i'll check it out!!!:08: |

It's around 12-15 bucks a bottle and it's worth every penny!
It just looks like clear liquid and I use around a 1/4 capful of part A & B mixed into a 2L pop bottle on young seedlings...progressing to a 1/2 capful as things are growing, and then a full capful when the plants are mature. There are many different mixtures of Dutch Nutrient Formula, but mine are the ones that are best suited to my growing needs. You guys may have other needs though, so please be sure to check out what's available. : ) |

Let me know if you can order it in the US too and how much it is. I seem to recall Bob was going to order some but it wasn't as easy to find there as it is here...
I buy mine at 'Vantage Hydroponics' here in London but have never seen it elsewhere. You'd never find it at a regular nursery or greenhouse...just to let you know. ;) I like using fish emulsion too for an organic fertilizer, but DNF is way less messy & smelly. I am using the same DNF as you,I was told that it was for hydroponics but cut in half if used on soil,Are you using the full 5 ml A and 5ml B per litre. I am doing 5ml per 2 litre,wonder if it makes any difference!!The stuff works pretty well though!!

WoW...I didn't know it was a hydroponic fertilizer also! :eek: Makes sense though, but I was never informed of that. How cool. I can use it in my aero-garden! :08: I mix my own measurements now, although at one point I did follow their instructions. I find that plants that aren't raised on it from the start need to be weaned onto it slowly and sparingly to start with. I mix around a capful of each into a 2L pop bottle for mature and large plants. : ) |

I'm sorry, but Dutch Nutrient Formula is made by adding water to commonly available dry water-soluble powders and then sold at enormous markup. Basically you are paying 60 to 100 times the price per net pound of fertilizer as compared to say, the Peter's Brand of water soluble powders.

Nonetheless DNF had been around for over 23 years and it's not just a good product, it's an excellent one. Besides, the proof is in the pudding. ;) If anyone is looking for a truly great liquid organic water-soluble fertilizer that will prove itself within days of its use...try it for yourself. This may simplify things... To me it's like peanut butter...do I want to eat Skippy, or No-Name?! I think it's nice that there's a peanut butter available for people who may not be able to afford brand names...however I can tell the difference and the no-name brand, although close, certainly can't hold a candle to Skippy or Kraft! :eek: It's the same with your no-name brands of DNF Richard...close, but still not quite. I will be looking forward to reading your new thread however about all the products that are supposedly equivalent to Dutch Nutrient Formula...and seeing the pics of your plants to prove the results. :D Actually, DNF is very reasonaly priced, so it's really not worth mentioning, nor worrying about. :) For someone who's not against organic gardening Richard, you were sure putting down Bob's compost in another thread...when he likely has the best nutrient rich organic soil of any member on this site...and the stunningly gorgeous plants to prove it! Organic gardening is the way of the future and we all have a responsibility and duty to respect mother earth and keep her clean. :goteam: : ) |

That's OK HBL, he tried to trash Joe Real's new AZ41 for plants by saying he could make the same thing for much less & w/ 100% markup. He was proven very wrong by Joe & Harvey.
I have seen many pics of your plants & asked how you keep them so healthy - esp in winter, & now I know. I also was lucky enough to see Bob's garden last yr. We came home saying "wow". |

Here's further proof that DNF is truly a great organic fertilizer... I put this little Haworthia under my aero-garden light and began feeding it the DNF fruiting and blooming formula, and today I noticed a stalk coming up with a flower bud!!! :goteam: In this shot you can see the bud in the center...  It's a direct result of this... It promotes fruiting & blooming! : ) |

I think I'm going to add some DNF to my aero-garden on the next round, in a week or so.
Since Will told me it's a hydroponic solution as well, I'm dying to try it in there too. I've been using the nutrients that came with the kit but I have a feeling my DNF will be even better. We shall see soon enough. I'm also thinking of getting some other kinds of DNF...like maybe the DNF Black, to enhance the color & flavor in vegetables & fruits. : ) |

Tonight for the first time, I applied some DNF to my aero-garden. Since it is a hydroponic fertilizer also, I thought it would be a fun experiment.
