I just found this little bloom on a Namwah I had in a very small container. :08:

I have been wanting a Dwarf Namwah, but I am just not liking having to pay 35 + dollars for one, cant find them TC anywhere. I will eventually order one I guess lol

I potted up some baby tall Namwah's for a friend and he never picked them up, so I just left them in the pots. This is the second one to bloom. I don't think it will produce bananas, but we will see. I will post a picture of the plant and container.:bananas_b

What an itty bitty little nanner. How old is it and how long has it been in that pot?

I think it has been in the pot for 3-5 years. I potted up several Namwah (full size pups) to give to a friend. He never picked them up so I just kept giving them water. This is the second one to bloom. When I saw the bloom on the first plant I quickly stuck it in the ground. I got two or three bananas from that plant. The pot that this one is in is very small, I don't think putting it in the ground will help.

I have another potted Namwah blooming. That plant is about 8' tall. It was about 6' tall when I put into the rope bucket about two years ago. I moved its sister plant which was about the same size to the back fence and put it in the ground. It has a bloom also. I wonder what the size and how many bananas each plant will produce?

That is too funny and interesting to see that they are blooming under these conditions in a pot.
A while back I commented on some huge Namwah bunches people are getting this year.
If your bunches mature; you can claim the title "Queen of Bonsai Namwah" to your screen name. :)

The large plant moved into the large rope bucket before it bloomed produce about 30 bananas. That's good for a backyard bucket banana. My next experiment is to see how big it's pups get and if the bucket is large enough to produce the same number of bananas.

The other plant I put in the ground has more fruit.

My tcs from FHN are getting rootbound and wasnt sure
if those rope buckets really work.
I was thinking of the smart bags PRG recommended on
the Garbage Can Thread http://www.bananas.org/f2/garbage-cans-17946.html
and maybe partition a 50g bag($25) in twos.

Good to know theres an option.

The rope buckets will split after a few years. The sun causes a lot of damage to the buckets. I guess it all comes down to how much money you have. I have only used some bags for potatoes and they didn't last very long. If the $25.00 bag splits too the bucket is a better deal. Let me know if you get the 50 gal bags and how long they last.

really multiply like rabbits!

I did a search on CL and found used tree pots for very little money so I picked some up and plan to purchase more. Even though I now live where everything can go in the ground, this Northern transplant is still fixated on big pots. I've used the buckets when I was growing lotus in MD; they definitely don't age very well.

I think a antique claw foot bathtub would make a nice planter. Just have to fit it into your landscape.

What's an airpot? I purchased 30 gallon black tree containers. Hated spending $5 on each. I used to be friends with folks who owned a trash company; they saved them for me.

A big breathable formed bag/container to grow your plants in.
A number of nurseries in your area use them as well as a few members

I found a bunch of small ones (3/4 gallon?) like that in my utility room but I was told there were for hydroponics; they're plastic. I liked the big winch I discovered much better.

Nice !! I have both Dwarf and standard NamWha's. The dwarf bloomed first and was a most excellent banana.. one of my favorites so far. The Standard just started blooming 3 weeks ago.. has about 10 hands or so. Bout 15 feet.. the dwarf got about 7 feet for me..
