For bananas...TERRIBLE! Bananas like well-draining soil. The 'moisture control' soil has a gel polymer in it that absorbs water...holding it there LONGER. The opposite of what you want for bananas. I use the regular miracle grow (cause it's the only thing you can really find here) but definitely avoid the moisture control for naners.

Hey neighbor!!!
Bryan is right. I use reg miracle grow potting mix & add a lot of perlite for good drainage. Nanas love it.

I personally think it Sucks (even the generic version)!!! Spring, Summer, Fall or Winter indoors I wouldn't mix it with anything other than maybe palms. For Banana's your better off going to your local water treatment plant and getting a load of compost from them and making your mix. :^)

Our water treatment plant makes Milorganite which is mostly nitrogen & not good for nanas.
miracle grow w/ perlite is the best. And then add some banana fuel from Wellspring.com to fert.

I use only the regular miracle grow potting mix too( only because I never seem to have enough compost to go around) Still I amend it heavily with bark chips , perlite or whatever's on hand to make it drain FASTER. I think the moisture control if it were all you had would have to be amended that much more to guard against any root rot or fungal infections.

It is very good not bad at all. One of my neighbors was using the moisture control miracle grow ans was giving him very good results and the plants are grown nicely.

I would say good for summer, bad for winter.
In the summer, you can't hardly get enough water into a pot when the plants get rootbound, which happens fast. But repot them and get them out of it for winter.

I'd say unless you live in Vegas or phoenix I wouldn't use it any time of year for banana's. Now Roses, Hibicus, and other flowers I say no problem, just not banana's. I know as hot as it is here I killed enough banana's even when it was summer...
