Leaves are yellowing near the edge and than brown spots appearing ![]() ![]() |
Re: Yellowing and brown leaf spots
Without seeing more, I would guess fertilizer issues. Do you have a few more pics? Maybe the whole plant in one and a whole leaf with petiole going to stem also? Being in Russia, I doubt it's in the ground.
Also, welcome! |
Re: Yellowing and brown leaf spots

This is my SDC today
Is it fertilizer issues or something else? ![]() |
Re: Yellowing and brown leaf spots
Whatever it is, I don't think you should be too worried as the plant looks very healthy overall. Most likely has to do with a little too much water or fertilizer. I have seen bigger plants in smaller containers, so not likely that, either. Myself, I would have it in a bigger pot.
That said, I was hoping someone else who does container growing of bananas and maybe even has a SDC would chime in here. |

I was worried that it was something serious... PS I found out, that fungus can cause brown leaf spots. Is any method to make sure, this is not fungus? |
Re: Yellowing and brown leaf spots
The yellowing along the leaf edge makes me think more that it's not fungus. Possible but leaf streak diseases look different.

Re: Yellowing and brown leaf spots
What is happening first, brown/black leaf edges or yellow?
From the bottom photos, there is brown/black leaf edges and no yellowing. This is usually caused by over watering. If you are using a liquid fertilizer every 1 or 2 weeks, then over watering is washing the nutrients away and causing the yellowing as a secondary problem. May be apply a small amount of slow release fertilizer and dry out the potting soil some. Also, check the pot drain holes are not clogged. You have to figure it out, but that is what I think I see in the photos. Over watering and fertilizer issues are the biggest problems for container grown bananas. |
