You do not need any roots. As long as you have a sound piece of corm larger than a
walnut, you have the makings of a banana plant. It will only take a bit longer to develop. |

The corm was nearly cut off the bottom of the stem. Will they grow back together, or should I cut it off and discard the stem altogether?

Not being able to see it directly, I still believe it would be best to cut the stem off
completely withe a sharp non-serrated knife and let the corm develop a new one. The more smooth the cut, the less chance of disease entering. If the first cut was rough it is best to take another slice off at the corm end. The chance of contamination is very small, but better safe than sorry, especially if you do not have a lot of pups to fall back on. |
