Pure sulphur for bananas ?

I was wondering if the pure sulphur powder I put on my (mini !) vineyard would act well as a preventive or curative fungicide for bananas plants.

Any idea ?

Hey Phil. I've used Elemental Sulfur (granules) in the soil mix when planting to help prevent fungus. Also Elemental lasts much longer, and is closer to the form it is in nature (seen formed on the sides of rocks) - especially in some tropical volcanic zones. Bananas grow so well there, like so many.

I have never had any adverse affects, and only can say good things about using it Elementally. If you use the fine powder, it quickly degrades and doesn't stay around long (oxidation).

That's true. I did not think about bananas in volcanic soil. (eg : Canarias islands). Sulphur will not harm. Thanks for your help !

Phil

PS : I use sulphur on the leaves or pseudostem especially when I remove a brown mushy petiole.

I been using pure S in my garden for years. It's effective for controlling some kinds of rot and repelling certain insects and small animals. Cheap, too.
