Banana fruits have dry scaly skin
Hello,
One of my trees has fruits which are almost ripe but when I went to check on them yesterday I noticed a number of the bananas have dry/scaly skin on the top side. A couple have split open really bad and some tiny white bugs have gotten to them. Just curious what is causing this - I live in South Florida - very hot now. Is it sunburn or something more (bugs/disease)? Here are pics... ![]() ![]() |

They're no ready? They seem to me...

Re: Banana fruits have dry scaly skin
They are not ripe yet but still I have never had them become brown skinned and dried out/rotted like this. This is obviously not normal.

They look filled enough, no? If you are waiting for them to turn yellow,I think it's a mistake. You better leave them to ripe on your counter... Which variety is it?

Re: Banana fruits have dry scaly skin
I wouldn't put those rascals anywhere near my counter! I don't know what's wrong, but I might quarantine the plant...or remove it.

Did you have frost on them earlier this year?
