Seed sprouted--now what?
 

Hello! After exploring the seed-sprouting suggestions I planted the Musa velutina seeds I had purchased from Baker's Creek along with my veggie seeds, put them on a heat mat, and forgot about them. Yesterday much to my surprise I realized one had sprouted! This may be a stupid question, but...now what? I know I need to transplant it to give the other seeds a chance, does the seedling need any special care or can I treat it like a larger banana? I could put it in a self-watering pot? It's going to be an inside tree, I live in zone 7.
I tried to figure out how to attach a photo, it said uploaded to my gallery but nothing showed up.

I read that their roots are really delicate when they first sprout. Moving them early stunts their initial growth. I would wait until it puts out 3 or 4 leaves if you can. Question, how long did it take for the seed to sprout?

In the forums I was reading here people said to carefully scoop out the seedling and surrounding dirt with a finger. I can't leave it where it is, it's in a 4" pot with a lot of other seeds in a plastic bag, and it's already touching the top of the bag. It'll mold if I leave it there.
I just checked and realized I didn't actually record when I planted them, whoops. It was after February 7th.

There are some decent threads on seedling growth.
Also some good Youtube videos on banana seed germination and growth.
Pick and choose what you can use.

if the plant is deeply rooted let it be.
Usaully it does not impact the other seeds which have not germinated.

Move the seeds instead of the plant:)

Wow, congrats! I tried for a year with no luck and ended buying a live plant just last week. I'm also in zone 7, but I plan on growing mine in a pot for the first year and bringing it indoors this winter. Next year I'll put it in the ground. I have a Yellow Chinese that I planted in ground last year and it did come back and has two pups coming up! I feed mine Wellsprings Garden's Banana Fuel, both in pot and in ground.
