Are you talking about ornamental or fruiting bananas?

What we consider "edible fruiting bananas" do not have seeds under standard conditions.

I've not heard of banana seeds germinating under water, but I have heard of heliconia seeds doing that. Seeds need oxygen to germinate, so providing your water is well oxygenated then it should be OK.

I don't soak for more than a week, but I know of people who soak for 2 weeks. I'm not sure you gain anything by soaking for that long. So a week is about right.

If the seeds are fresh, you really don't need to soak them for more than a few hours. If they are not-so-fresh (LOL), then a few days to a week is better. Remember though, it really is important to change the water out frequently! You could end up with a bunch of rotten Musa seeds if you leave them in some stagnant water for too long. Been there, done that.

I wonder if a bubble stone would help, or must make dizzy musa seeds lol?
