Joe, I was infected long before I met you but I probably added another strain to this disease after meeting you. I've been blessed with many generous friends, family, and resources that I always try to be thankful for. I've only been able to give away Dwarf Orinoco pups so far but should have others in the years ahead. A friend from Puerto Rico who is temporarily living in the same town as Joe recently surprised me with an Ae Ae pup and he's been looking for a banana for the community garden he is helping out with so this seemed like an ideal way to help.
It is easy to take friends for granted. It just dawned on me that I have not made a donation to the International Banana Society. Hmmm....oh yeah, generous Jarred is spending money to run these forums and is not accepting donations at this time! He and the moderators spend many hours as well. Thanks for bringing us together! ![]() Harvey |

You guys are making me feel guilty for my fleeting thought:
". . .maybe I can snipe that auction at the last minute. . ." Just kidding! Glad it all worked out for Taylor, HarveyC, et al. This forum has drama. Who knew bananas could be so exciting? JoeReal: Yours sounds like a commendable example of "paying it forward". Cheers, Ed. |

I must also agree with Harvey and Joe. As a hobbiest, and an advocate thereof, it only makes good sense to "spread the wealth". I have given away far more plants than I own and when I have lost a culture completely I have replaced it from within the network I've created .
In addition, I have gained the knowledge returned from the recipients of my generosity. Likewise, I have enjoyed the generosity of others. Case in point .. One member of this board has shipped me 13 Alocasia/Colocasia starts thus renewing my intrest in EE's and asked nothing in return. Yet another member has sent me a box so completely packed with Musas that I felt the very same as many felt on Christmas morning as a child. Later, the same person sent me a Siam Ruby. Never even asked for shipping, just sent it knowing that it would make me happy. I must understand Taylor as well , for I too experienced the learning period and received very little guidance . He is lucky to belong to a community such as this where one is called out on points of credibility. He is a good person, just learning the way as we all did . I know the lesson was well recieved. A person is only as good as his/her own word. I have faith in humankind and know that one day Taylor will repay my kindness by sending me a CG pup! He offerd me several nice plants this week but I already had them . Last edited by Lagniappe : 09-13-2007 at 07:10 AM. |

Taylor, the pup was delivered to my friend today and he potted it up and will plant it outdoors in the community garden next spring. We've been having cooler weather than normal for September.
My friend reported that it was in great shape and a "huge" and a very nice plant. Thanks again, Taylor! |

Oh my, looks like I have been missing some action around here. Personally, I would question the authenticity of a plant coming from someone with those kinds of antics!

Kyllie, it was not a big deal. It was ideal as the guy I shipped it to and will plant it in the community garden is just living here temporarily but sent me a small Ae Ae pup recently out of the blue. On top of it, this is going into the same community where member Joe Real lives and he gave me a full grown 9' Cal Gold and a nice Dwarf Brazilian back in June (though I had to do much of the digging! LOL). The receiving is nice, but so is giving. If I am very very lucky I might even be in the position to give away Ae Ae pups some day, but don't hold your breath as both you and my Ae Ae might die!
