Grey Saba (Pisang Kepok Kapas)
 

one of variant of pisang kepok (saba), named pisang kepok kapas. its skin fruit colors is grey, while other saba is green. very interesting and beautiful. this variant include rare. like other saba, its type delicious for fried bananas. any opinion?

big plant is about 5-6 meter

Very beautyfull Saba variant there Novi! If you have plantlets of this one availiable,even non acclimated ones,i would sure love to buy some!:woohoonaner:

You would have to take a whole load of them. Small TC plantlets don't usually make it to Europe from overseas. They don't have enough energy or sufficiently big corms. Another problem is the shipping time, which can, sometimes, exceed 30 days (like to me from India :( )

Nice plant and raceme...but..the shape of the fruit is not very similar to the green Saba (which has very little if any upward curvature).

The plant has significant dark mottling...the Green Sabas are almost entirely green.

The taste and texture are similar??

Hi Jack!

I dont have much problem regarding a resonable amount of quantity as i know i can find homes for the extra :ha: Of course just 1 to 10 would be a good and more managable number if he could send.
If the plantlet(s) is send in a closed,sterile container with nutrient to support it(a growth or rooting medium) for the trip,i think it would be just fine,just a little chlorotic when it arrives! But Novi is much more experienced with that than i and would surely know a way if he wants to sell some!

The differences Rmplmnz mentions are exactly why i like it!

I was thinking more like... 100 pieces to get 20 alive to Europe. Or so I was told by the European banana shops and US TC company.

And there's the second problem. Rooting/TC liquids (or other special liquids) are subject to much more drastic border control than the plants themselves. ;) Remember, that it probably wouldn't fly directly to Greece from M'ysia, but would most likely come through a midway station, such as the ones in GB, Italy and France with regular postal delivery flights.

As we've seen many times already, the safest way to get the corm from Malaysia is to actually bring/smuggle it from a vacation there.

But there's also this saying I've read somewhere:

Well,i dont have much problem getting 100 but i doubt i will be so unsuccessfull to loose 80!!! Things must not be that bad...I can offer high humidity and good light in good hygien conditions. Of course,when you buy less,you can take care of them better and that results in even higher success than having to take care of a lot together. The second results in more losses just for practical reason,causes that could have been avoided with the more care few plants would get.

I think packet inspection,if it even happens,takes place in country of destination and not in intermediate countries. That makes for a high chance of success:woohoonaner: Also,a small vial in an envelope labeled whatever,isnt going to attract any suspicions about ''special,contolled liquids'' ;)

Plus there is that saying as you say...And i tend to follow it! ;)

Btw,if Novi sends me some,i will send you one(or more :ha: depending on quantity that acclimates well!) ;)

En Rivas;Nicaragua tenemos muy poco la variedad Saba y esta es verde pero en la finca del productor los racimos tienen hasta 130 dedos pero es el Saba normal (verde).Algo que tienen que saber es que todos las variedades de ABB son ricas en almidones por lo tanto la producción de harina es grande y esta previene el cancer de colon según los ultimos estudios. Asi que a comer de estas variedades.

Something interesting about this variety (and all ABB varieties in general) is that it is very rich in starches and flour production is very good (can't figure this one out)... and this prevents colon cancer according to recent studies. So eat these varieties, when it is possible.
