Chopping corm/replanting technique

Alright, so I watched this and suddenly it became clear to me (being the newbie I am).
So he chopped the hell out of that corm and planted it UPSIDE-DOWN (ABOUT 2:15ish) to promote swords, and prevent the old stalk from regenerating and becoming something that resembles a water sucker! Am I correct? Just learned something new to share. . . Curiously intriguing. . . I feel like I understood every word. :0520:

There's a million ways to do it, and most are effective.

Do you really want to take advice from a guy in flip flops that can't even handle a machete?
