Wintering question
 

So it's supposed to hit the upper 20s next week strangely. I have what fast growing trees advertised as blue java/ice cream banana. It's around 10ft tall.

So I dug it up and brought it inside, where it will stay till spring. I want it to fruit next year so I didn't remove leaves or cut back at all.

It was so tall that it isn't feasible to pot it. The corm is in several 30 gallon trash bags...

Last year I had it potted and in soil. This year it was probably 200lbs, with all the soil knocked off i could manage.

So it's got some soil but not a lot...

So my question is what is the best way to take care of it til spring considering I want it to fruit next year?

Do I need to try to add soil to the bag? How much to water and what kind of fertilizer will be ok to put on bare roots?

my attempt at overwintering like this was a failure and here are the reasons i believe why:


the space they were in was too warm
55F was one recommendation from the thread above

and the basement flooded... couldnt have helped
